Atlas Cinema Snacks
2024
hummus, muhammara, pita bread & fresh radishes

Earlier in summer Chetna curated a series of films centred around revolution and resistance at Atlas Cinema. Snacks accompanied the screening of ‘The Hidden Half’, directed and written by Tahmineh Milani.

Before the event, Chetna had shared “In the evening, a dear friend will read a poem by a loved one, Khaleel (see below). Khaleel was killed by an Israeli airstrike in October. He had started to write poems. He was a great writer. This is a most fitting end to a series of films curated on revolution and resistance told through beloveds. Resistance is many things. Love, conviviality, forging futures, another is to immortalise and fight against erasure of those who would have only made this world more beautiful.”

“Acting as a human being you have a role in this world
How in your daily life, do you let the possiblilty
of another world stay alive

A pen is like an atmic bomb
Opression is the fuel for the imagination
When i Write I get a glimpse of the future
The oppressed have nothing but hope

Every encounter changes us
If we had time, we could speak forever

I was cursed to be a Palestinian person
I write about Palestinian voice countering
the colonial voice

I went outside Gaza once
It was A miracle
It was paradise

Memories that fuel your heart
An alternate reality
Its not a dream
A single word can save a whole nation”
