Playte are gastro-architects who use local foods to create edible sculptures that connect people with their surroundings. Founded by Niyanta Sharma, an artist and architectural designer with Indian heritage, and Wesley Hauler-Winterford, a cook with a background in food science and Māori heritage, Playte aims to blend art, architecture, and gastronomy.

They use food as a tool to create site-specfic experiences that explore the intersection between art, architecture, food security and their surrounding environment. Together, they explore the joy of gastronomy.
